Regarding my last post, 500 children die each day due to measles. The severity of measles increases when there is an increased deficiency of vitamin A. The deficiency of vitamin along with the disease increases related infections such as pneumonia and diarrhea. Wouldn’t it be sensible to provide some source of vitamin A to these children? A few milligrams could replenish vitamin A stores and reduce the incidence of blinding in children. It’s definitely marvelous that such a small supplement can have such profound effects.
Vitamin A: A deficiency warrants an early disease. Night blindness. The cornea becomes dry and results in xerosis. Then, this progresses to keratomalacia. This results in the softening of the cornea, which leads to permanent blindness. Collectively, this is known as xerophtalmia.
All because of a ring+chain+nature’s functional groups.
